Community Engagement Intern

Vitalant is currently seeking Interns to help our dedicated team. This position is responsible for providing a learning opportunity in a field of study while helping to support the needs of the Memphis Vitalant donor recruitment team. Vitalant is a non-profit community blood bank that relies on volunteers to donate blood to save the lives of patients in Memphis area hospitals. Interns may gain work experience as they assist the Community Affairs Manager, the Donor Recruitment Manager, the Communications Manager, and the Regional Director. 

We’re looking for someone who can:
  • Performs all assigned duties in compliance with internal SOPs and external regulations. Brings compliance issues to the attention of management.
  • Ensures quality customer service to all customers.
  • Conduct local marketing research by gathering information through social media, local demographics or by direct contact with potential volunteers to determine strategies for improving donor recruitment and retention.
  • Assist with community presentations, events or outreach; prepare proposals.
  • Assist with the recruitment of volunteer blood drive coordinators; coordinate essential communications; innovate new ways to rebuild the volunteer blood donor base.
  • Assists with projects and assignments. 
  • Performs general clerical and administrative duties.
  • Creates and maintains records and reports for recording and monitoring department information.
  • Performs all other duties, at the discretion of management, as assigned.

Requirements
  • High school graduate or GED
  • Enrolled in an educational institution required--majoring in business, marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Able to set priorities, organize and handle a variable workload. 
  • Must be self-motivated with good organizational skills.
  • Strong social media and communications skills (communications). 
  • Proficient personal computer skills.
