Senior Clinician

Mental Health Support Services

Hiring Range: $69,315 - $93,574

Who We Are:
Mental Health Support Services (MHSS) provides mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorder services for children and adults in Chesterfield County. We seek candidates who value diversity, inclusion, and compassionate care techniques as they are embedded in a community mental health outpatient program that supports trauma-informed care practices. The candidate will have experience with evidence-based therapy techniques, safety/risk assessment, and differential diagnosis assessment specific to substance use. Minimum Education and Experience:
Master's degree in Human Services; three years of experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Preferred Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Virginia, or be licensed within six months of hire.
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge and understanding of fundamental concepts of normal and abnormal human behavior, personality development, family and group dynamics; considerable knowledge of and an ability to apply a variety of psychotherapeutic treatment techniques/modalities; adherence to basic ethics appropriate for a professional helping relationship; knowledge of mental health diagnoses, assessment, and psychological and educational testing; some knowledge of consultation program; considerable knowledge of psychosocial history development; very good interviewing and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing. 

Job Duties:
The Adult Substance Use Services Outpatient Program seeks a qualified applicant for a senior-level therapist position within our ASAM Level 1.0 Outpatient Clinic. This position will be responsible for providing assessment, treatment planning, individual therapy, group therapy, and case management to adults ages 18+ who meet the criteria for substance use and other co-occurring disorders.
 
Knowledge of the ASAM Criteria and experience utilizing a comprehensive assessment to make appropriate treatment recommendations is preferred. Experience facilitating psychotherapy groups with a curriculum designed for addressing substance use and co-occurring disorders is preferred.
 
The ideal candidate for this position is an individual who is an established professional in the mental health field and who has a great passion for working with individuals and their families impacted by substance use. The position requires excellent interpersonal skills, an ability to communicate orally and in writing, the ability to be flexible and respond to changing priorities, and skills in navigating technology, including documentation in an Electronic Health Record. Bilingual language competency is preferred.
 
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification required.
