Health (medical and dental), mental health services, nutrition and child safety areas are an integral part of the larger system of services provided by Early Head Start. They play an important part in supporting the goals of the program. This position is responsible for assisting in the facilitation of Health Services of the Early Head Start program. The position is also responsible for assisting in the collaboration on the development and implementation of the program, tracking and recordkeeping, community relations and outreach. The position could involve assisting in the provision of direct services in the health areas only if the individual is licensed, certified, or registered as such in the state of service. This position is responsible for assisting to ensure health procedures are performed only by licensed/certified health professionals with expertise in serving young children and their families. This position assists in providing content area training and technical supervision to other agency staff and ensures health services are supported by staff/consultants with training and experience in public health, nursing, health education, maternal and child health or health administration. This position is responsible for assisting in the implementation of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). Health and Nutrition Specialist are required to visit the centers they are assigned weekly or bi-weekly as needed to meet the needs of the program.  Therefore, the position requires either a valid driver’s license or other alternative forms of transportation which can be used to travel as needed.

This position is responsible for assisting in the management and oversight of family services, health services, or services to children with disabilities, the minimum requirement is a Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably related to one or more of the disciplines they oversee. Experience working in public health or nutrition arena and working with low-income clients preferred. Experience and training in public health, nursing, health education, maternal and child health or health administration preferred. Experience and knowledge of family-strengths/family centered practice preferred. Strong mathematical or fiscal experience and knowledge preferred.

If this employee supports nutrition in the program and is not a registered dietician or nutritionist, he/she must work with Program Director to partner with a registered dietician or nutritionist.

Schedule: Full-Time, 40 Hours per Week; Monday – Friday; 52 Weeks Per Year.

Location: Out stationed or Stationed locally depending on where the employee lives within the geographic area covered by the Pennsylvania CCP program. Pennsylvania CCP program currently operates in the following counties in PA: Chester, Montgomery, Philadelphia, Berks, Lancaster, Lebanon, Erie and Venango.
