Artist in Residence Intern

Intern will gain experience in meeting the storytelling needs of a non-profit by turning an element of the mission into a visual experience through mural paintings or sculptures.
Projects currently available:
·        Realistic wall mural of the chimpanzees in the play yard (14’ high by 30’ long)
·        Folk art style wall mural of quilts drying on clothes lines (14’ high by 50’ long)
·        Any style wall mural depicting endangered species (14’ high by 50’ long)
·        Realistic sculpture of a chimp made from tire treds, ideally twice the size of a real chimp
·        Climbable honey comb and bee sculpture – wood, metal, mixed media options - children’s playground style art
·        Oversized native flowers and insects for the Pollinator Garden – metal fabrication, realistic to surreal design
·        Additional ideas are welcome to be submitted.

●       Work under the supervision of the Executive Director to complete a gigantic wall mural or larger than life sculpture. Specific locations and goal of the piece will be established by Project Chimps but the final design is by choice of the intern
●       Support the growth of Project Chimps’ by chatting with guests during the installation
●       Collaborate with the Executive Director to develop the design
●       Network with the local community by working with volunteers who can assist with the installation
●       Provide support to our marketing and outreach team at live and online events by ensuring the digital team is aware of each milestone in the artwork’s creation
●       Represent and/or present on behalf of Project Chimps at various community events, as scheduling allows
●       Resident interns complete a weekly shift cleaning and tending to the intern residence
Attend weekly meetings with supervisor

Our internships are seasonal and we have flexible start dates so we can work with your school schedule (if applicable).
