Research Technician I

We are seeking a Research Technician I to join our Insourcing Solutions team located in Dixon, CA. 
  

As the Research Technician I, you will work with our research animals to ensure their well-being.

 

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Animal husbandry duties, such as room sanitation, cage change, daily health checks, post-operative monitoring, breeder setup and takedown, tail biopsy for genotyping, cross-fostering, wean, etc.
  • Specialized tasks such as hormone administration via intraperitoneal injection, estrus check, plug check, colony, and room transfer.
  • Other support tasks for the IVF/cryopreservation and microinjection labs.
  • Consistently exhibit professional and collegial behavior, and communication skills, and is expected to participate in discussions at unit meetings.
  • Review, comprehend and comply with all SOPs, guidelines/policies, and quality assurance standards pertaining to assigned responsibilities, and to the care and use of laboratory animals for research under the delegation and/or supervision of the ART Lab manager.
  • Expected to perform all other duties as assigned.

 

The following are minimum requirements related to the Animal Care Technician I position: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences (Biology, Biochemistry, Animal Science, etc.) or related discipline, and 2 years of relevant rodent experience in research animal science or husbandry. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
  • AALAS (American Association for Laboratory Animal Science) certification at the Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) level preferred
  • Proficient in mouse handling, sexing, and health assessment
  • Required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as dictated by the lab schedules
  • Demonstrated high level of attention to detail, responsiveness, adaptability, and reliability
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; responsiveness and reliability
  • Proven ability to successfully work independently and collaboratively in a team
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Must have experience with computers, mobile platforms, and data management systems in a professional environment


  
The pay for this position is $28-30.95/hour USD.  Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications and locations.  Schedule: Wednesdays 11AM - 8PM and Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays 8AM - 5:00PM.  Candidates must be available and willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. The position is 100% onsite.
