Microbiome Research Associate

The KPI Microbiome Research group is seeking a motivated and hardworking research associate to perform wet lab research including DNA extraction, PCR, sequencing and analyzing and interpreting findings. Moreover, the research associate would assist in databased and product development. Our group seeks to understand how the microbiome, particularly the gastrointestinal system, changes in acute and chronic disease and injury states in conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, diabetes, and cancer and how they correlate with condition severity and prognosis.

The candidate is expected to have a general working knowledge of basic genetics, cell biology and/or similar fields. Basic wet laboratory experience preferred such as pipetting, weighing, nucleotide (DNA/RNA) extraction, PCR, and/or similar. The candidate should be highly organized, detailed oriented, and self-motivated. 

The candidate will work primarily in the lab performing DNA extraction, PCR, and sequencing. They will also perform literature searches and analysis to develop a microbiome-based database. 

The candidate should have strong oral and written communication skills.

Qualifications: Applicants should hold a B.S. in Genetics, Biology, Cell biology, Regenerative Bioscience, Animal Science, or related fields. The candidate should also have a strong interest in laboratory science and health.
