Lab Technician

Summary: Position responsibilities include following test procedures and ensuring the collection of quality data and results in the test lab by performing the following tasks.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

 

  1. Work with complex tensile test equipment, record analytical and technical data.
  2. Perform mathematical calculations and review data recorded by other lab technicians.
  3. Perform destructive and non-destructive tests on samples of rubbers, silicones, and urethanes for batch release, production, and annual required testing.
  4. Setup and conduct various manual and automated tests to determine the performance of new and existing products or components.
  5. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe test lab environment.
  6. Notify supervisor when test materials and stock are low. 
  7. Make detailed observations and communicating them to the appropriate personnel. 
  8. Setup and conduct verification and validation tests on new and existing products or components.
  9. Setup, spot calibrating and operating instrumentation (load cells, extensometer, strain gauge, transducers, etc.…) for test application.
  10. Monitor test conditions and test results. 
  11. Manage the laboratory library and related technical information.
  12. Partner with manufacturing and engineering to support technical activities.
  13. Ensure that test resource availability is aligned with test lab schedules.
  14. Ensure that test lab equipment is calibrated and in proper working order.
  15. Follow instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  16. Demonstrate a proactive work ethic and communicate with coworkers and customers in a professional, friendly, and courteous manner.
  17. Identify issues and bring them to management’s attention.
  18. Assist other staff with all duties when assistance is needed, including covering when staff members are out of the office. 
  19. Follow company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable state or federal laws. 
  20. Participate in all required internal training.
  21. Perform other duties or projects as assigned by management.
