Referral Specialist - Yale Child Study Center

Yale Child Study Center 

Yale Child Study Center Clinical Services has an opening for a LCSW, LPC, or LMFT, to serve as a Referral Specialist for our clinical practice.  Successful candidates will be appointed as Clinical Instructors at Yale School of Medicine.  This faculty role supports the Associate Director of Youth Services and Director of Clinical Operations with the management of referrals for treatment and assessment coming into the Child Study Center’s New Haven and Westport offices. This role reports directly to the Associate Director of Youth Services.

Job requirements:  This is a fully in-person full time position and requires one evening until 7 pm per week

Primary responsibilities will include providing the following services: 

  • Diagnostic evaluation of children and families from young children through adolescence.
  • Engagement with clients to explain the referral process, gather essential information, and address questions they may have 
  • Risk management, including providing onsite supervisory coverage, urgent support for safety assessments and disposition planning
  • Internal and external referral management with associated follow-up
  • Participation in networking events, including at internal and external community events during or after hours
  • Documentation and reporting, including timely completion of all assessments, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of all referrals in Epic, updating information on all referral contacts, and entering data and preparing reports regarding clinical capacity

Connecticut licensed or license-eligible therapists with the following skills or experience are encouraged to apply:

  • Experience conducting evaluation and assessment with demonstrated strong diagnostic skills
  • Coursework in child development and developmental psychopathology
  • Experience with risk management, safety assessments, and disposition planning
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Highly detail oriented and organized, proven ability to multitask and maintain flexibility
  • Experience with Epic and Excel preferred
  • Bilingual clinicians able to provide referral support and evaluation in Spanish
  • Candidates from diverse backgrounds 
  • Experience providing culturally and racially responsive care
