Salary: Minimum starting salary for FTE is $68,000 per year for Full-time Employee based on years of experience plus a $2,000 foreign language differential (per FTE) for documented foreign language proficiency (“Advanced Low” or higher) area

Responsibilities

Provides weekly individual, family or group, psychotherapy services to children and their families.

Attends interdisciplinary staffing to discuss and integrate the evaluation information and to develop a comprehensive treatment plan responding to the psychological and social needs of the client/family.

Collaborates with the referring agency, the local Department of Social Services, to assist them in utilizing the evaluation/treatment services in the development of the agency service plan for the child and the family.

Collaborates with the school system to assure that the children are receiving appropriate educational services if indicated.

Responds to the juvenile court system through written or oral progress reports when such is required in the juvenile court's development of a plan for the child and family.

Participates in peer consultation groups and/or individual supervision for review of clinical work.

Attends in-service clinical training programs, treatment planning meeting, and necessary administrative meetings.

Maintains client activity at the projected level set by the administrative staff.

Maintains the medical record for each client seen which includes a treatment plan and diagnostic interview at the initiation of therapy, weekly progress notes, periodic reviews, and termination summary.

May participate in the field instruction program and supervise social work trainees when interest and capacity is demonstrated and may participate in community advocacy/educational groups related to the needs of foster care children and their families.

Qualifications

Bilingual in English and Spanish with a proficiency level that meets the Institutes minimum standards. Able to speak Spanish fluently with ease and confidence in a variety of topics related to work, home, leisure activities, as well as events of current, public or personal interest or individual relevance. Able to convey intended message with accuracy, clarity and precision without misrepresentation or confusion while being readily understood by native speakers.

Must be licensed in the State of Maryland, by the Board of Social Work Examiners, Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene as a Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW).

Must hold and maintain CPR certification.

*Individual must demonstrate competence across all age groups due to the diversity of the children and families served by Kennedy Krieger Institute.

*Clinical care focus is on the neonate, pediatric, and adolescent populations, as well as some adults with disabilities.

EDUCATION:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited School of Social Work required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Some experience related to providing services to children in the child welfare population with developmental and emotional disturbance preferred.
