Desktop Support IT Technician

Autonodyne is a Boston-based software company working to provide additive autonomy to unmanned vehicles in land, sea, and air domains. Our technology stack applies mainly to the defense sector, but we view most of our work as dual use for commercial applications. At Autonodyne we specialize in the command and control of autonomous vehicles. Our software suite sits at the nexus of Human-Machine Interface & Autonomy Behaviors. We are searching for a Desktop Support/ IT Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate can effectively provide technical support to employees to ensure smooth and efficient operation of computer systems, networks and related hardware and software within the organization. 

Responsibilities: 

  •  Provide first-line support for end-users, resolving hardware, software, and network issues in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, software applications, and hardware on desktop and laptop computers.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals.
  • Assist users with inquiries and provide training on various software applications and tools as needed.
  • Perform regular maintenance tasks, including system updates, backups, and preventative maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
  •  Maintain accurate records of support requests, solutions, and hardware/software inventory. Document procedures and create user guides as necessary.
  •  Assist with basic network troubleshooting, including connectivity issues and configuring network devices.
  • Implement and adhere to IT security policies and best practices. Ensure antivirus software is up to date and conduct regular scans.
  •  Assist with the setup of new user accounts, email configurations, and system access, as well as deactivating accounts for departing employees.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field. 
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in desktop support or a similar role.
  • Proficient in Windows and Linux operating systems, and common desktop applications. 
  • Basic understanding of networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
  •  Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to think critically and resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive attitude and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Active DoD Secret Clearance.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field.
  • Comp TIA Security+ CE or equivalent IAT Level II Certification
  • Knowledge of scrum and agile software processes.
  • Industry experience in the autonomy software and/or unmanned systems field.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance.

 

 

Travel:

This position will likely involve travel to customer and non-customer sites principally in North America (up to 20%), but global travel is also possible.

Other Criteria:

Strongly prefer domicile near the Boston/Cambridge metro area but will consider non-local domicile – relocation to Boston area part of compensation package, if necessary.

Security clearance (active or previous) or the ability to be granted one desired.
