Investment Operations Analyst

Salary Range:

$69,000 USD - $75,000 USD

 

Specific compensation will be based on candidate’s experience, skills, qualifications, commercial considerations, and other job-related factors permitted by law. The primary responsibility of the Investment Operations Analyst is to provide high quality rebalancing and cash flow implementation services for Russell's US Institutional clients and the Investment Division. You will be responsible for validating that cash flow instructions are received in good order while ensuring timely and accurate processing of those instructions. The role includes creation of and validation of rebalance activities and implementing transactions within associated systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of all trading activity. You will interact with fund portfolio management, Americas Institutional as well as the Investment Division.  Responsibilities will also include reviewing all assigned functions for potential efficiency and quality improvements, recommending related process improvements and service enhancements, and implementing approved recommendations. You will be expected to innovate daily processing, drive process and technology enhancements, implement operational policies and perform daily functions/tasks. Additionally, you will have primary day-to-day operational product ownership for the rebalancing solutions provided to the US institutional business for their client's asset allocation needs. Focus in this area will be on ensuring that Global Operations meet agreed upon service levels, while managing external vendor relationships and providing ongoing improvements to the service offering as needed and funded.

 

Your Core Responsibilities:

  • Daily processing of cash flow activities based on client requests and Russell initiated activity; execute daily trading activities, assigned value added activities and other operational services in a timely, complete and accurate manner; work with internal and external parties to investigate questionable values
  • Provide ongoing rebalancing services for US Institutional clients, including periodic (ongoing, monthly, and quarterly) review, calculation, analysis, and execution of asset allocation and rebalancing transactions for US Institutional client accounts; escalate complex issues to management as appropriate
  • As assigned, participate on cross-functional project teams as a trading and rebalancing representative and take beginning-to-end responsibility for the assigned portion of the project as determined by the project team lead and/or supervisor.  Project responsibilities will be completed on time and impact to other responsibilities will be minimized.
  • Maintain and improve interactions between members of America's Institutional, Investment Division and Global Operations
  • Maintain and update current procedures, as well as design and draft new procedures relating to operational processes; provide process and/or technical improvement insights in area of operational expertise to improve operating efficiencies; guide and measure the results of improvement initiatives
  • Manage vendor relationships related to rebalancing services focused on ensuring the daily compliance with contracted service level deliverables


Your Expertise:

  • Experience in a financial operations or trading environment focused on transaction processing, custody, trust accounting, and related services for trust clients within the US markets.
  • Organized, analytical, detail-oriented, and precise with numbers, with a solid understanding of the securities/fund industry as well as investment concepts and strategies
  • Understanding of asset allocation and rebalancing from an operational and transaction processing perspective
  • Strong individual contributor and team player in a fast-paced environment with the ability to prioritize and complete multiple assignments under short deadlines
  • Proficiency with spreadsheet applications, data manipulation, database applications
  • Experience within a business analysis role - gathering and documenting business needs and requirements in addition to using industry standard methodology to ensure that service and technology providers deliver on requirements
  • Ability to manage vendor relationships and achieve sustained superior performance through outsourced services
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and document processes, suggest and guide the implementation of improvements, and measure the results of improvement initiatives
  • Ability to take the initiative to identify gaps in operational process and implement new innovative solutions that are relevant to the industry
  • Proven understanding of the US trust marketplace including defined benefit, defined contribution, endowment and foundation services from a trust accounting and operational processing perspective
  • Superior communication and people relationships skills, both in writing and person to person
  • College Degree in Accounting, Business Management, Finance, Economics Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent work experience
