Importing Manager

Job purpose

Oversees the import of products from our international suppliers and partners. Supports the Importing team with custom agents, warehouse staff and shipping companies; helps with shipping, receiving and recordkeeping for international transactions; promote and implement the company’s core values and excellence in customer service; responsible for  maintaining strong relationships with customers.

Duties and responsibilities

Oversee customer orders and investigate issues.

Coordinate shipping with customs for clearance on overseas shipments.

Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to imports and exports.

Process and document returns as required following established procedures.

Perform business critical tracking for importing department.

Provide leadership to facilitate excellence in Customer Service execution.

Manage and direct job assignments, daily activities of Importing, and work schedules through clear and concise meetings.

Collaborate with the Vice President of Business Operations in the employee performance review process.

Responsible for notifying the Vice President of Business Operations of any attendance or discipline concerns.

Support maintaining a safe working environment that focuses on safe work habits.

Maintain a focus for self and team on continuous learning that will enhance skill sets and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

A 4 year degree in Business Management, or related field.

Bilingual in English and Mandarin strongly preferred.

5 years or more of Importing experience, preferred.

2 years in Management position with multiple reports.

Familiarity with international trade regulations and customs clearance processes.

Ability to work collaboratively across department functions.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

Must have the ability to produce significant volume and work independently.

Physical requirements

Sitting, Standing Walking.

Lifting: Raising or lowering an object from one level to another (includes upward pulling).

Carrying, Pushing, Pulling boxes and sample orders up to 50 lbs.

Ability to work extended hours when/if workload requires.

Importing Clerk, Importing Data Entry, Importing Coordinator.
