POSITION PURPOSE / IMPORTANT APPLICATION INFORMATION

The City of Westminster is seeking two compassionate and collaborative librarians who love working with all ages! The Supervising Librarian position is responsible for providing reference and readers’ advisory to all ages, creating and delivering community-focused programming, and facilitating outreach efforts and library services in the Westminster community.

Supervising Librarians regularly work the information desks, provide outstanding customer service, answer an array of technology and reference questions, and create engaging displays to highlight the library’s collection. This position is also responsible for collection maintenance, staff scheduling, and supervision of associates.

The ideal candidate for this role has a heart for public service, champions teamwork, and values equity and empathy in a community-focused setting. Someone with a passion for adult/teen services, engaging programming ideas, and patience with kids will thrive in this environment.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS/PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

Education, Experience, Skills, Formal Training, Licenses, and Certifications
Required:

  • Graduation from an accredited, four-year college
  • Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent within 6 months of hire
  • Previous experience providing services and/or programs for adults and/or teens
  • Demonstrated commitment and passion for community engagement and adult literacy

Preferred:

  • Supervisory experience
  • Spanish language skills
  • Previous library experience in a professional level position in public services
