Director of Human Resources

TITLE: Director of Human Resources: Kotzebue, Alaska

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Valid Alaska Type T certification, skills, knowledge and experience in HR or Type B
Administrative Certificate,
2. MA in School Administration.
3. Experience in a rural Alaska school system.
4. Experience as a hearing officer in grievance procedures.
5. Knowledge of and experience in the hiring procedures for school employees for the State of
Alaska.
6. Knowledge of E.E.O.C. requirements.
7. Knowledge of PERS and TRS.
8. Experience as a human resources officer in the private sector may be acceptable in lieu of school
district experience.

REPORTS TO: Superintendent of NWABSD

JOB GOAL: To plan, coordinate and supervise the operation of personnel affairs in such a way as to
enhance the morale of school district personnel and to promote the overall efficiency of the school
system; also, to provide support to site administrators to maximize administrative effectiveness.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. To provide analysis and recommendations to the Superintendent for personnel action including
hiring, disciplinary action, termination, recruiting, staffing pattern adjustment, demographic
studies and other information as assigned;
2. To maintain an effective and current information and data management reporting system for
personnel;
3. Direct recruiting processes, advertisements, interviews, contract offers, etc. as directed by the
Superintendent;
4. Provide orientation and information services to employees;
5. Support and assist principals in carrying out their assigned duties, support the effort of building
an administrative network, emphasizing team building, which enables principals to freely share
successes that can then be implemented district-wide;
6. Participate in all actions involving employee labor associations,
7. Type B Administrative Certificate required to evaluate principals.
8. Other duties as assigned.

LENGTH OF POSITION: 251 days, beginning July 1st, 2024
SALARY: Depending on experience / negotiated salary schedule
