Accounting Intern

Accounting Internship Description

As an intern at Slingshot, aka, Slingtern, you’ll get lots of hands-on experience. And not the grabbing coffee kind of experience either. The talking to vendors, digging for insights, and analyzing financials kind of experience that prepares you for the real world.

The Slingshot Internship is an internship that gives you first-hand experience working on real work in a real-life advertising agency. Think of it as an entry-level position with a little more learning and guidance.

Don’t worry—we’re not expecting you to figure it all out alone. That’s why you’ll have your own personal mentor. They will help guide you through the exciting world of advertising, show you how the coffee pot works, and remind you that there are no dumb questions.

Job Requirements: We are looking for a talented student working towards a degree in business, accounting, finance, or mathematics or a recent grad with a can-do attitude and willingness to learn. Qualified candidates are passionate about a career in accounting and are just all-around fun people to work with. Candidates are expected to maintain confidentiality, have a high level of accuracy in data entry of financial information, and have exceptional communication and organizational skills.

Pay: Interns are paid $12 per hour, plus unlimited coffee, cereal, and pop-tarts.

Job Responsibilities: You will receive training on the following responsibilities:

  • Manage the accounts payable process, including new vendor setup, vendor invoices, responding to vendor inquiries, and cash management.
  • Process employee expense reports.
  • Provide monthly reporting and details to the Controller for the month-end close.
  • Perform other accounting, operations, or administrative tasks that may be required occasionally.
  • Reconcile financial discrepancies and transactions by collecting, analyzing, and auditing account information.
  • Maintain financial security by following internal controls established by the Slingshot fraud auditor.
  • Maintain client, vendor, and team confidence and protect operations by keeping financial information confidential.

This opportunity will be an extended internship, and qualified candidates should be able to work in the office at our Dallas location.
