Fitness Specialist (full-time)

Aquila's Fitness Specialist (full-time) assists members in safe and effective exercise and performs a wide range of technical exercise and administrative duties in health/fitness center.

The salary for this position is $46,500 or $22.36/hour, 32 to 40 hours a week, beginning as soon as possible.  Candidates should be able to work both 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., on alternate weekdays.  There is no weekend work.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supervise exercise areas
  • Educate members concerning safe exercise techniques
  • Teach group exercise classes
  • Perform exercise assessments and prescribe exercise upon American College of Sports Medicine guidelines
  • Conduct safe and effective assessments including cardiovascular, strength, flexibility and body composition analysis; evaluate and interpret data and identify high risk participants and special populations
  • Aid members - spotting and equipment usage
  • Explain all equipment
  • Ensure the maintenance, cleanliness and safety of all equipment
  • Adhere to departmental and club policies and procedures
  • Adhere to clients policies and procedures
  • Attend staff meetings
  • Assist in wellness and fitness promotions and external events
  • Perform daily administrative duties

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or Health Promotion or Related Field, OR 4  years work experience in the fitness field.
  • Active NCCA accredited National Fitness Certification - (ACE, ACSM, NSCA, NASM, NCSF, NCCPT or AFAA or any other that is NCCA accredited)
  • Experience in fitness assessments and training, personal coaching, and similar activities.
  • CPR Certification
  • Able to work full time in person, 5 days a week
