Fellowship Position Specific Description  

The Steuben Public Health Fellow III will work in Program and Organizational Management. This fellow directly supports Steuben County Public Health nurses on Health Department nursing activities but does not have a clinical component nor patient care duties. The fellow will:   

• Assist department nurses in conducting administrative and program activities. Examples include assessing and monitoring information, completing and monitoring disease investigations, and correspond with community members
• Evaluate and process bite report information for the rabies prevention program
• Facilitate and conduct the department Quality Improvement program
• Create/develop infectious disease outreach materials for community health education and prevention presentations
• Identify, compile, and deliver community health education information and training (in-person & virtually)
• Assess, compile and provide program information, plans, and prepare reports
• Review, evaluate, and process infectious disease reports
• Collaboratively, conduct training and assist with department participation in disaster exercises and trainings
• Evaluate, monitor and process project/grant opportunities
• Develop materials and educate department staff, volunteers, health partners, and community members
• Facilitate connection with health partners and participate in committee activities
• Investigate, evaluate, and present research and data to department staff
• Steuben County Public Health may assign other work projects or duties to the position to support the Public Health Department
