Summary:

Goldbelt C6, LLC is seeking a Chemist I in College Park, MD, that will support and assist division Data Registrars in curating scientific and regulatory information for the division databases and knowledge bases to review and test systems during the ongoing development and synchronization of the (Chemical Evaluation and Risk Estimation System (CERES) Scientific Terminology and Regulatory Information (STARI), and STARI-CERES-FARM (Food Applications Regulatory Management) systems.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assist with reviewing and researching scientific and regulatory information for inclusion in STARI and related systems and adding/updating that information in those systems. 
  • Provide services in support of Scientists to enhance and expand the scientific and regulatory information in STARI and related systems.
  • Assist in collecting and curating chemical identifies, chemical structures, and toxicological and regulatory data for CERES-STARI systems.
  • Assist in updating existing substance records in STARI and related division data sources to assure the record data is current.
  • Assist in adding new entries/substances to STARI/CERES that become known to the division through various sources.
  • Assist in curating and updating substance and regulatory data for inclusion in division web inventories.
  • Assist with quality assurance activities associated with developing the CERES-STARI-FARM synchronization, including the chemical registration tools and reports.
  • Maintain records of progress/completion of work performed.

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge and experience with CERES and its integration/synchronization with the STARI database for use in the pre-and post-market safety evaluation of food ingredients.
  • Knowledge and experience with development of CERES, there is a need to collect and harvest scientific and regulatory data on chemical substances.
  • Knowledge and experience with collecting and curating chemical identifiers, chemical structures, and toxicological and regulatory data for the CERES-STARI systems.
  • Knowledge and experience in substance records in STARI and other data sources.
  • Knowledge and experience with quality assurance regarding the CERES-STARI-FARM synchronization, including the chemical registration tools and reports.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Chemistry, Food Sciences, Food Technology, or related field.
  • At least two (2) years working with any of the following systems relating to food additives:
    • Chemical Evaluation and Risk Estimation System (CERES)
    • Scientific Terminology and Regulatory Information (STARI) or
    • FARM (Food Applications Regulatory Management)
