Education Intern
JOB TITLE: Summer Education Intern – 2 positions
REPORTS TO: Walter Director of Education and Engagement
FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
LOCATION: Goodman Theatre, 170 N Dearborn
INTERNSHIP DATES: June 17-August 16
SALARY: $16/hour
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Summer Education Intern will provide support for our two summer youth programs: PlayBuild Youth Intensive and the Musical Theater Intensive, as well as provide general administrative support to the Education and Engagement team. Interns will communicate with students and caregivers, learn from our roster of Teaching Artists, and have opportunities to co-facilitate activities in the programs. Interns help to track the development of the summer productions and provide all around logistics support.
REQUIREMENTS:
Current high school student or recent high school graduate who has not yet entered college (class of 2024 graduates are welcome to apply)
Leads with a growth mindset – demonstrates an ability to take direction and criticism constructively
Strong ability to digest new information quickly and apply it productively with a high level of attention to detail
Excellent communication skills and ability to muti-task and work independently
Collaborative spirit and ability to embrace flexibility of working with many members of the team
Demonstrated interest and passion for arts education
Excellent organization and interpersonal skills
Proficiency with Adobe InDesign or other design software a plus
Education and administration experience also a plus
TIME COMMITMENT
Maximum of 30 hours/week; Between Mondays and Saturdays, 8:30am – 6pm; occasional evening and/or weekend assignments. The specific days/hours will be discussed during the interview process.
