Social Work Intern
Our nonprofit organization is seeking a Social Work Intern to support our mission of providing support and resources to pregnant teens and mothers. As a Social Work Intern, you will be responsible for researching and collecting data, coordinating services, fundraising, and conducting community outreach activities. This position is ideal for college students interested in pursuing a career in social work or particularly in any field of maternal and child health.
Responsibilities:
- Researching data to identify people and communities needing help.
- Assess clients’ needs, situations, strengths, and support networks to determine their goals.
- Help clients adjust to changes and challenges, such as illness, divorce, unemployment, homelessness, etc.
- Participate in case management activities, including coordinating services and making referrals
- Conduct outreach activities to engage and educate the community about our services and resources
- Assisting our team in providing individual and group entrance counseling
- Program development and evaluation
- Complete required documentation, including progress notes and other reports Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in social work or a related field
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Active listening and critical thinking skills
- Empathy and understanding another person's experience and point of view
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Suite
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Knowledge of maternal and child health issues preferred
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
