Research and Editorial Internship

For more than 25 years, the Functional Food Center (FFC) has promoted research for further development and commercialization of functional foods for chronic diseases. We are looking for dedicated and detail-oriented interns who are eager to learn and hone new skills. We especially welcome students who are looking for an internship with academic credit.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Gain hands-on experience in functional food science, research methodologies, and journal publication standards.
  • Develop skills in editing, proofreading, and scientific writing.
  • Enhance knowledge of functional foods, chronic diseases, and personalized healthcare.
  • Learn about scientific research databases and literature review processes.
  • Develop communication skills through interaction with professionals in the field and social media marketing of published articles.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and collect data from scientific databases and journals such as Web of Science.
  • Create documentation to assist the FFHD journal in maintaining standards and improving journal quality.
  • Familiarize oneself with the rules and standards for scientific journals to gain exposure to the industry.
  • Review unpublished articles for consistency, quality, and flow, particularly with scientific terms and data.
  • Edit and generate content for the journal website, newsletters, and other platforms.
  • Market newly published articles on social media platforms like LinkedIn.

Requirements:

  • University students (Biology, Science, Nutrition related majors are welcome to apply).
  • Strong editing, proofreading, and research skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Experience with LinkedIn and social media platforms is recommended but not required.
  • Availability of 15-20 hours per week (200 hours in total).

 

Supervision:

Interns will be under the supervision of Dr. Martirosyan and our experienced team at the Functional Food Center. Throughout the internship, they will receive comprehensive guidance and support to ensure a fulfilling learning experience. In instances where academic credit is sought, it is mandatory to be supervised by Dr. Danik Martirosyan. Academic Credit:

While this is an unpaid internship, we offer the possibility of academic credits to students who require them for their academic programs. Additionally, upon completion of the internship, interns will receive certificates and other benefits outlined below.
