Position: Elementary Teacher

Location: 2410 S. 9th Street, Lafayette, IN 47909 

Start Date: August 1, 2024

Job Summary:

The Lafayette Catholic School System (LCSS) has an opening for a full-time, highly motivated, and passionate elementary teacher starting in August 2024. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and delivering instruction in accordance with the curriculum guidelines of the school, as well as integrating Catholic teachings into their lessons. The ideal candidate will be a faith-filled servant leader who loves teaching, wants to see every child learn and grow in virtue, and wants to be part of a close, supportive faith community.

Primary Purpose: 

Under the general supervision of the School Principal, a successful candidate will have the ability to develop students' skills and competence in general elementary school education and the Indiana State Academic Standards.

Education/Certification: 

  • Indiana teaching license to teach the subject or grade for which he/she is applying.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university.

Knowledge: 

  • Understand the appropriate use of Learning Management Systems (Schoology, Canvas, Blackboard, Angel, Moodle, etc).

Skills: 

  • Strong written and oral communication abilities.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work.
  • Ability to build parent and student relationships.
  • Ability to collaborate inside and outside of the department.

Experience: 

  • Experience teaching at the elementary level, preferably in a Catholic school.
  • Responsibilities and Duties: Create and sustain a student-centered learning environment.
  • Plan and implement daily lesson plans that align with the school’s curriculum.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students that reflects Catholic values and teachings.
  • Assess student progress using various methods such as tests, assignments, projects, and class participation.
  • Communicate with parents regularly to discuss their child’s progress, strengths, and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff members to develop and implement school-wide initiatives and programs.
  • Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and parent-teacher conferences as required.
  • Participate in school events and activities, such as masses, school assemblies, and extracurricular clubs.

Lafayette Catholic School System (LCSS). LCSS is a five-campus, pre-K through 12 system that provides a Christ-centered education to students in the Tippecanoe County, Indiana area. More than 1000 students are enrolled systemwide.
