
Student Affairs Specialist, EOPS/NextUp
Napa Valley College is seeking a Student Affairs Specialist for the EOPS/NextUp program. The Student Affairs Specialist will be assisting with providing services and program activities including outreach, orientation, college re-entry assistance, and financial aid guidance; and maintaining services in compliance with established program guidelines. Employees in this job classification perform the functions and related tasks indigenous to the work assignment and/or location in which they serve.
This job reports to the Dean, Enrollment Services. This Student Affairs Specialist will serve current and former foster youth students from diverse backgrounds and experiences. The goal of NextUp is to support and assist students in achieving their educational goals and work to making sure NextUp students educational and daily basic needs are met. The ideal candidate has professional experience working with and advocating for students who have been in care and experience food and housing insecurity.
The Specialist will also work closely with students to complete any forms/applications and oversee the verification of eligibility to ensure seamless entry into the NextUp program. This position is responsible for monitoring the progress of NextUp students in collaboration with EOPS/NextUp Counselors. The Specialist will develop, plan, and participate in program specific events, orientations, and workshops. Other primary responsibilities include outreach and in-reach marketing/promotion and developing and implementing recruitment strategies for the NextUp program. In addition, the incumbent will serve as a liaison and network with on-campus departments and off-campus programs, social services agencies, and community-based organizations to address students’ educational, mental/physical health, and basic needs.
This is a full-time, 12-months-per-year, classified position. The salary has an appropriate placement on Range 15 of the current Classified salary schedule. The salary range is $4,462 to $5,166/month, with future steps up to $6,279/month. Placement is made based on experience. The college offers a fringe benefit package including medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, employee assistance program, and public employee retirement system membership. This assignment includes 20 paid holidays.
