ICE, Department of Homeland Security Congressional Relations Intern (Winter/Spring 2023-24)

Internship Program

The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is a critical component of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and plays a key role in promoting homeland security and public safety. The ICE Office of Congressional Relations (OCR) works closely with lawmakers on Capitol Hill to educate and raise awareness on the role of ICE’s mission to national security. Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) protects the homeland through the arrest and removal of those who undermine the safety of our communities and the integrity of our immigration laws. The Office of Public Affairs (OPA) builds public understanding and support for the agency's mission by engaging with the news media, federal, state and local agencies and non-governmental organizations and working closely with internal stakeholders to inform and engage ICE employees. ICE OCR gladly offers unpaid but rewarding internship opportunities to enrolled undergraduate and graduate students. ICE OCR’s internship program is a public service, professional training, and career development program that provides students with a unique opportunity to learn about ICE’s role in the immigration continuum, and its engagement with Congress right in the nation’s Capitol. This immersive internship experience is designed to mentor future leaders and make government service accessible to students across the country.
