Quality Assurance Support at EPA

The EPA National Student Services Contract has an immediate opening for a full-time contractor position; Quality Assurance Support at EPA with the Office of Research and Development at the EPA facility in Research Triangle Park, NC. 

 

Salary: $23.37 per hour. 

 

Travel: Occasional overnight travel may be required. 

 

Required Skills: 

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word;
  • Experience in administration support functions (i.e., recordkeeping) and managing electronic and hardcopy records and/or databases;
  • Strong communication skills (i.e., written, oral, telephone etiquette, presentation abilities), including effective multi-media technical communications; and
  • Strong organizational skills, including demonstrated ability to handle multiple assignments with competing deadlines.

 

Desired Skills: 

  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, SharePoint, OneNote, and desktop publishing applications such as Visio.

 

Qualifications                     
 

  • Be at least 18 years of age and
  • Have earned at least a bachelor’s degree in biology, toxicology, chemistry, bioinformatics, statistics, computational biology, math, physics, information science or a closely related field of study from an accredited university or college within the last 24 months and
  • Be a citizen of the United States of America or a Legal Permanent Resident.

 

EPA ORD employees, their spouses, and children are not eligible to participate in this program.

 

What the EPA project is about 

The Center for Environmental Measurement and Modeling (CEMM) mission is to develop, evaluate, and apply measurements and models to characterize the sources, occurrence, transformation, transport and effects of pollutants and stressors in the natural environment.

The Office of Resource Management (ORM) mission is to advance ORD’s research mission by providing fully integrated operational support by providing effective resource management support and services in the areas of budget formulation and execution; extramural management; human capital management; travel management; program accountability, policy; operations and compliance for Safety, Health, and Environmental Management (SHEM); facilities; fleet; capital equipment; and vertebrate research programs

The mission of the Office of Science Information Management (OSIM) cascades from the higher-level missions of EPA and ORD. OSIM is ORD’s IT/IM office. OSIM enables high quality, high impact environmental research by providing agile tools, technology, processes and services for research projects, planning, collaboration, and quality control.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent bachelor’s graduate to collaborate with EPA’s research team. Research experience includes:

  • Assisting in planning, executing, and following up on meetings;
  • Assisting with the review of QA documentation, procedures, and policies;
  • Assisting with the issuance, distribution, and review of research notebooks; and
  • Networking and exploring many career paths at EPA.
