Psychology Intern
We are seeking students majoring in psychology to work with us at schools, foster care and mental health agencies, the Department of Human Resources, and the Judicial Court System, and assist children and their families with mental health behavioristics. Psychology majors who seek to build their resumes, gain valuable experience, and skills, and help the youth and families are encouraged to apply.
Psychology Interns will assist with the responsibility for providing both direct and indirect support to students, families, schools, mental health and foster care agencies, hospitals, the juvenile court system, and team members to ensure high-quality programming for students that are at-risk, with disabilities, children in the hospital, and students with mental health challenges.
A typical day includes attending and setting up referral meetings (Zoom), planning initial assessments, behavior consultation, direct and indirect support of children/students receiving the social-emotional intervention, and supporting school leaders in implementing.
Essential Functions:
Assist in the implementation of assessment recommendations as needed. ● Participate in the pre-referral process and provide consultation to school teams regarding intervention support for struggling students. ● Work with parents to build knowledge of disability and inclusive support for students with disabilities/mental challenges. Assist in providing consultation and advice to mental health professionals, schools, and parents regarding the general and special programs as appropriate. ● Assist in coordinating, communicating, and seeking consultation with community agencies as appropriate

Time Commitment:
While there is no typical day, interns can expect to work at least 10 hours a week or less (depending on the academic requirements.) You can set your own hours, which can be done from Monday to Sunday, as long as you complete your project and are not assigned to a special assignment. This is a flexible remote position. We will work with you in accordance with your schedule and academic requirements. The final schedule will be established between the intern and the Director. Internships are available year around based on student and organizational needs. Internships typically last 3-4 months so that the student and the organization can make the most of the internship experience. Upon completion of your internship (if it is an academic requirement), you can continue your internship or volunteer.
"This position qualifies for academic credit with the appropriate institution's approval." Interns may also obtain program or course credit for this experience with their educational institution's approval. Although this internship is unpaid, it is eligible for academic or course credit with your school's approval.
