Become a Full-Time Teacher by Fall 2024. Apply to the NYC Teaching Collaborative.
The NYC Teaching Collaborative prepares aspiring teachers to become classroom leaders. Here's how it works:
- The full-time residency-style training program runs from January - May 2024
- Training includes hands-on experience in real NYC classrooms
- Program participants receive targeted, ongoing coaching from skilled Collaborative Coaches and program staff
Following the residency training experience, program participants begin teaching full-time in a New York City Public Schools classroom with continued feedback and support.
Within 2-3 years, participants earn their master’s degree and apply for New York State initial teaching certification to continue their career as New York City teachers.

Eligibility Requirements
Before applying to the NYC Teaching Collaborative program, make sure that you meet basic program eligibility requirements:
- Bachelor's degree conferred by January 31, 2024
- Minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.5
- Fluent in written and spoken English
- Authorization to work in the United States through September 2026
- Never been certified to teach or completed a program that would lead to certification in the U.S. or Puerto Rico
