Speech Language Pathologist - Special Education

SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST ~ SPECIAL EDUCATION

We are recruiting a licensed Speech Language Pathologist to serve the students at PHILLIPS School ~ Laurel.
 

What the Speech Language Pathologist does:


The Speech Language Pathologist provides diagnostic and therapeutic speech and language services to students with communication disorders; serves as a consultant to teachers and other staff regarding the development and implementation of speech and language programs. In addition, the SLP:
 
  • Assists teachers in developing language curriculum and teaching strategies.
  • Monitors implementation of classroom language programs through observation, direct participation and conferences.
  • Serves as a resource for materials and methods.
  • Provides individual and group speech/language therapy to students on assigned caseload, as called for by students’ IEPs.
  • Provides speech/language evaluations as needed to determine current level of functioning.
  • Develops speech/language goals and objectives for assigned students’ IEPs in consultation with parents and teaching staff.
  • Maintains files on assigned students, and write progress reports as required by PHILLIPS policies and procedures.
  • Consults with staff regarding speech/language needs and oversight of screening process.
  • Participates in student teaming meetings as appropriate.


What the Speech Language Pathologist brings to the team:
  • Master’s Speech/Language Pathology (SLP) – minimum Clinical Fellow in Speech Language Pathology (CF-SLP)
  • Hold a valid school Speech-Language Pathologist license issued by the Maryland Board of Audiologists, Hearing Aid Dispensers, and Speech-Language Pathologists and obtains and maintains reading certifications.
