The Opportunity
The Recruitment Manager will assume responsibility for sourcing, interviewing, career fair management, and recruitment. Ultimately, the Recruitment Manager will ensure PPSD recruits and retains world-class talent to serve the students and families of PPSD. The ideal candidate is an innovative, strategic and systems thinker, a relentless worker, someone with experience in urban education, and prior experience in teaching, recruitment and hiring.
EDUCATION TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Minimum of 3 years of successful, full-time, experience in recruitment or hiring, preferably in K-12 urban education.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND CURRICULAR LINKAGES
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Recruitment Pipeline & Cultivating Talent
  • Recruit candidates using a variety of outreach strategies including cold sourcing (ie- LinkedIn, networking, referrals, online searches, internet postings, job/career fairs, job boards, career pages, social platforms).
  • Support the PPSD Employee Referral Program.
  • Get investment from current staff members to support recruitment efforts (ie- Recruitment Ambassadors).
  • Attend and organize career/job fairs and other recruitment events in-house and virtual recruitment events. 
  • Actively liaise with college alumni associations and community partners in and around Rhode Island.
  • Cultivate partnerships with organizations including: universities and graduate school programs, organizations that are education-focused, and teacher prep programs. 
  • Support hiring managers by conducting pre-employment screening (i.e. cultivation calls, reference checks, background checks) and eligibility checks (i.e. determine whether an applicant is qualified for the position to which they applied). 
  • Support one or more district talent pipeline initiatives (e.g., substitute pipeline, teacher assistant).
  • Actively recruit talent for PPSD employment.
Candidate Screening
  • Conduct initial resume reviews and phone screens with prospective candidates.
  • Monitor the progress of prospective candidates through the recruitment process, including timely communications from school leaders and hiring managers.
  • Maintain and manage detailed records of candidates through various applicant tracking systems.
  • Create and modify rubrics and interview guides, at the direction of the Director of Diversity Recruitment & Pipeline Initiatives.
Candidate Relationship Management
  • Create a strategy around candidate experience in the interview process, in alignment with the Director of Diversity Recruitment & Pipeline Initiatives.
  • Act as a point of contact for candidates throughout their application and interview process with PPSD.
  • Build upon PPSD’s employer brand to set up new hires for success with a realistic understanding of the day-to-day job responsibilities.
  • Manage the communication with new hires to ensure matriculation and a smooth on-boarding process.
Recruitment Management and Planning
  • Strategically plan for the immediate vacancies and projected vacancies.
  • Work with HR leaders, school leaders, and hiring managers in best practices in retaining their staff.
  • Organize and lead internal career fair, interview days, including managing candidate logistics, sharing interview notes, and performance tasks with staffing and hiring managers.
  • Assess seat/vacancy clarity based on conversations with staffing and hiring managers.
  • Work with staffing and hiring managers to get clarity on how new hires are performing to better inform hiring strategy.
Other Recruitment Team Responsibilities
  • Stay updated on trends in education and recruitment, and bring fresh and innovative ideas to the work.
  • When possible, seize opportunities to interact directly with students, families, or staff members to build connections at the school level and to contribute to the success of our schools and programs.
  • Serve as a thought partner for teammates and partners across the organization.
  • Develop and maintain operational systems to manage complex projects and report progress across to key stakeholders.
  • Manage and respond to questions, concerns, and issues related to prospective employees and recruitment in our customer service platform, Let’s Talk.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS
The following is required of all Recruitment Manager candidates:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Suite (creating spreadsheets, reports, and presentations).

  • Ability to persevere with a sense of optimism, strong problem solving skills, and desire to learn and grow in a collaborative professional learning community.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Extreme flexibility, with a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit to accommodate high levels of responsibility and multiple priorities.
