Assistant Project Accounting Supervisor (Req ID 4323)

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

Supervises and develops Project Accounting staff, including assigning and managing staff workload and monitoring status of assignments to ensure the work schedules are adhered to and deadlines are met.

Interviews, hires, disciplines, and evaluates Project Accounting Staff.

Promotes positive morale including keeping staff informed of upcoming changes that impact their positions, listening to concerns and maintaining an open-door policy.

Trains staff on Finance, Project Accounting and Billing policies and procedures, including the importance of maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.

Assists with issue resolution and resolving questions and problems in a timely manner; maintains accurate documentation; updates Project Accounting Manager as necessary.

Reviews and approves timesheets; manages staff overtime.

Reviews subcontractor reports to determine timing of payment.

Reviews, follows-up, and resolves accounts receivable aging report and unfunded contract problems.

Oversees bi-weekly and monthly billings and revenue recognition of customer contracts to ensure accuracy and timeliness of processing.

Coordinates and monitors contract setup and contract rollovers in accordance with contract and cost accounting requirements.

Provides support for all DCAA & other audits relating to Project Accounting.

Develops, documents, and maintains assigned job duty checklists and detailed instructions.

Coordinates the review of the monthly Project Accounting analysis; initiates and communicates corrective actions as necessary.

Assists Project Accounting Manager in developing new and efficient processes.

Performs related work as assigned.


Job Requirements


Mandatory

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field and seven (7) years of progressively responsible accounting experience.

Experience may be substituted for education as follows:

Nine (9) years of progressively responsible accounting experience.

Strong analytical or problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills as demonstrated by ability to identify non-routine issues, seek, and analyze information, and determine appropriate action(s).

Broad understanding of accounting processes to include payroll, accounts payable, general ledger and Accounts Receivable accounting.

Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word at an intermediate level.
