Full Time Child Care Worker
 
Position Summary:  Child Care Workers are responsible for providing care and guidance to all residents within a non-institutional, loving, and supportive environment according to the Miller Home Program which provides for each resident’s needs and encourages each girl to grow and develop to her highest potential.
*Please note this is a position that requires the employee to stay overnight at Miller Home.
 
 Qualifications:
●      Bachelor’s Degree in the field of social work, psychology, education, or other related area.
●      Experience caring for children and working with others
●      Must be at least 21 years of age or older  
●      Must have a valid driver’s license
●      Must be able to cook; prepare meals
 
Knowledge, Demeanor, Health, and Abilities 
●      The Child Care Worker must demonstrate a high level of maturity and the ability to deal effectively with the social, psychological, behavioral, and emotional needs of children.
●      The Child Care Worker must be physically, mentally, and emotionally able to care for residents and demonstrate a loving desire to do what is best for the children entrusted to the Miller Home’s care.
●      The Child Care Worker must be able to respect and work cooperatively with a variety of persons including co-workers, volunteers, and parents of children residing in the Miller Home.
●      The Child Care Worker must exhibit a positive attitude and exhibit appropriate behavior and manners at all times as they are a role model for residents.
●      The Child Care Worker must demonstrate the ability to represent the Miller Home to the community in a positive and effective manner. 
 
Responsibilities:
 
●      The Child Care Worker will report to the Program Director and be knowledgeable of all aspects of the Miller Home Program including its daily schedule, policies, operating procedures, and residents. A full time Child Care Worker will utilize part time Child Care Workers to perform all duties as necessary and allowed. A part time Child Care Worker will perform duties as instructed by the full time Child Care Worker on duty.
 
●      The Child Care Worker will also attend workshops and take advantage of training opportunities that will enhance her job knowledge and performance.
 
A. Supervision, Care, and Management of Residents
 
●      The Child Care Worker will actively supervise the residents and know their whereabouts at all times including study hall and school activities. This also includes supervising the use of the telephone, internet, television, and music.
●      The Child Care Worker will follow the daily schedule and ensure residents complete all daily tasks. This includes providing transportation for residents.
●      The Child Care Worker will enforce the Phase and Level System and any approved method of behavior management.
●      The Child Care Worker will establish relationships with each resident and take a special interest in each one so each resident will feel loved and accepted.
●      The Child Care Worker will ensure each resident’s needs are met which includes providing for their needs and identifying needs to the Miller Home Program Director. Such needs include clothing, self-care, medical care, and emotional needs.
●      The Child Care Worker will work with other Miller Home staff and the resident to achieve the resident’s goals as outlined in their Individual Service Plan. 
●      The Child Care Worker will become a certified Medication Technician and administer all prescribed and over the counter medication as required. A part time Child Care Workers may not be required to become a certified Medication Technician, however, she will not administer medication.
●      The Child Care Worker will become certified in CPR and First Aid.
 
B. Household Management
 
●      The Child Care Worker will assure the condition of their wing, common areas, and Miller Home vehicles are clean and orderly by ensuring residents complete their assigned chores and respect Miller Home property including their personal space.
●      The Child Care Worker will prepare meals when kitchen staff is not on duty and ensure the cleanliness of the kitchen during those times.
●      The Child Care Worker will ensure each resident over the age of twelve does her laundry each week and will launder the clothing of any resident under the age of twelve.
●      The Child Care Worker will assist with personal shopping for residents each month.
●      The Child Care Worker will assign house and wing chores each month.
 
 
 
C. Documentation
 
●      The Child Care Worker will maintain accurate and professional daily logs for each resident and follow all Miller Home policies regarding documentation.
●      The Child Care Worker will keep accurate balances for any Miller Home money and each resident’s personal money when a resident entrusts the Child Care Worker with her money.
●      The Child Care Worker will recognize that she is an integral part of a program designed to meet the total needs of children entrusted to the care of the Miller Home. She will understand that he will be called upon to perform whatever task is necessary to carry out the program effectively whether or not the task falls within the outline of this job description.
 
Rate of Pay
●      The Full Time Child Care Worker position is paid at a daily rate. A daily rate indicates payment for the day is broken into four quarters - 6,12, 18, and 24 hours.
●      Starting daily rate: $130-$135/daily - Rate of pay will be evaluated following the 6 month probationary period.
●      Full Time Child Care Workers usually work an average of 15 days per month.
●      Paychecks will be available on the 15th of the month and the last day of the month.
 
Required Training
●      CPR & First Aid
●      Medication Administration Training for Youth
●      40 hours of “On The Job” training at Miller Home
 
Benefits
●      Full Time Child Care Workers receive 10 paid holidays per year.
●      Annual Leave days are earned over the first year of employment and may be used after 1 year of employment from Miller Home
●      Insurance benefits (medical and dental) are offered to full time employees after 90 days of employment.
