Job Overview:
The communications intern will assist the communications specialist and plant management team with planning and preparing internal and external communication activities and plant-wide projects for Mercedes- Benz Vans, LLC in the Charleston area.
Responsibilities:
- Contributes to professional internal communication tools, such as videos and presentations to employees, internal letters, info boards, employee intranet sites and internal events (content writing and design development)
- Coordinates internal stakeholders and external resources to help produce professional publications for employees at Mercedes-Benz Vans, including verifying facts, clarifying information and gathering photos, videos and other content
- Supports planning and implementation of external communication activities including social media, news media announcements, sponsorships and donations events and marketing and advertising related to recruiting and employer branding
- Supports activities of Office of the CEO with projects and administrative tasks as needed

Qualifications
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree or just graduated with an undergraduate degree less than a year ago
- Strong MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite skills, especially in graphic design and video editing
- At least 20 hours per week during the school semester - combination of in-person and virtual
- 40 hours per week during summer - combination of in-person and virtual
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Communication, Public Relations, Multimedia, Marketing or related field
- Prefer 1 year previous internship or volunteer/extracurricular experience related to this position
- Working knowledge of graphic design principles and programs and CMS interfaces for websites
- Fluent or practicing German speaker is a plus
Preferred Start Date: April - May
Preferred Requirements: Currently enrolled in University or in a gap year between Bachelor's and Master’s degree. A minimum of 3 semesters of studies in relevant field of study. Available for a minimum of 3 months, prefer availability for a maximum of 6 months
Additional details: Pay rate: $20.00 Hour. MBV does not offer assisted living or a relocation package for this assignment.

Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC(“MBV”) is a plant in Ladson, South Carolina that assembles Sprinter vans for the U.S. and Canadian market under the brand Mercedes-Benz. The midsize Mercedes-Benz Metris vans are also reassembled at this location.
Mercedes-Benz Vans, LLC has invested more than 500 million U.S. dollars in the new Sprinter plant, which officially opened in 2018. Today the MBV facility provides more than 1,600 jobs and supports at least 600 additional jobs in the region through its suppliers. More than 260,000 Sprinter and Metris vans have been assembled in North Charleston and delivered to destinations across the U.S since 2006. In 2021, the plant celebrated its 15-year legacy of SKD production in South Carolina.
