POSITION OVERVIEW:
Position Title: Public Affairs Internship
NPS Unit Name US Park:Police- Washington Metropolitan Area Position
Dates Starts: May 15, 2023

Position Description: Learning Goal The intern will learn about the United States Park Police, while assisting the agency with building internal connections witin the organization as well as external outreach with the communties it serves. They will also receive training in graphic design, internal/external communications, social media content creation, and technical writing.

Qualifications: Seeking majors in journalism, public relations, communication, graphic design, marketing, and business. Excellent research, writing, and communication skills. Detail-oriented and knowledgeable in MS Office applications and Adobe Creative Cloud software. Be a creative thinker and possess the ability to work in a team and independetly, as needed.

Additional qualifications:
Must be currently enrolled or recent graduate of an accredited HBCU institution
Must be between 18 and 30years of age
Must be U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident or U.S. national
Must be able to pass a federal background check

Work Environment: The work environment is typically in an open-office setting. In addition, the intern will attend agency special events and functions as well as go out into the parks with the Public Information Officer in order to generate Public Affairs content.

Vehicle/License Requirement: Must have a means of transportation
Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation is at a rate of $16.00 per hour, 40 hours per week.
