Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Intern

Temporary Grant-Funded Part-Time Position. The work Schedule will be 10-15 hours per week for 200 hours during the grant period of May 1-September 1, 2023.

Job Summary:  You will provide assistance in meeting the County’s DEI goals of enhancing research and investment in communities to ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion and to help reduce barriers to access and advance opportunities for underserved communities. You will work to increase diversity and outreach platforms in recruiting, hiring, and retention and will assist with developing consistent, equitable, and inclusive procedures for the County. You will assist with researching, developing, and executing creative strategies to foster the County’s diversity goals. You will assist with implementing County-wide programs and will work with the Human Resources team on recruiting to build talent pipelines, diversity metrics, and reporting. You will initiate surveys to collect and analyze data, assess, categorize, provide summary reports, and conduct presentations of your findings. You will work closely with the Public Information Office on social media and communication messaging. Other duties may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program or a recent college graduate within the past year in Human Resources Management, Public Administration, Business Administration, Sociology, Cultural Anthropology, or a closely related field. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Publisher, is highly desirable. Certification or coursework in DEI or Workplace Inclusivity is a plus.

Note:  During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team.
