Finance Intern

JOB SUMMARY:
Rakuten USA finance team is responsible for day-to-day financial management, budget preparation, budget, actual and variance analysis for all the internal departments and support management in making key financial decisions.
We are looking for an intern who can easily fit in our team to understand the existing policies, processes and help develop Standard Operative Procedures (“SOPs”), policies and other related procedures. In addition, provide recommendations to changes in the existing processes and the document the same.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop policies and procedures and ensure their implementation in finance department. Create SOPs for all the processes in finance department. Conduct risk assessment, identity risks and develop preventive strategies and propose constructive and practical improvements in terms of minimizing risk. Review existing controls and make necessary additions or revisions. Prepare schedule for annual walkthroughs and assess and design effectiveness of walkthroughs.

  • Basic Accounting and Finance knowledge
  • High level understanding of internal controls and processes
  • Microsoft Office Suite and Excel Skills
  • Knowledge of flowcharts and Visio a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, including written and verbal communication skills

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS                 
  • Incoming junior or senior University student enrolled in a Finance or Accounting Program

At the time of posting, Rakuten expects the hourly rate for this role will be between $20 - $25 per hour. Individual compensation will vary based on job-related factors, including the skills, qualifications, and experience of the successful candidate as well as business need and geographic location.
