Intern, Regulatory Policy - Summer
Consumer Brands is a hybrid workplace! This position is expected to collaborate with our fully vaccinated team in the Rosslyn office at least two days per week (Wednesdays are required) and has flexibility to work remotely for the remaining days.
Position Overview:
Consumer Brands is looking for a motivated student interested in public policy or working with federal regulatory agencies and is passionate about making a difference in the home of every American consumer. Consumer Brands champions growth and innovation for food, beverage, household and personal-care product companies with currently more than 1,700 brands represented. Consumer Brands Regulatory & Technical Affairs is responsible for providing regulatory and technical guidance to its members as well as championing uniform, smart regulatory policy advocacy to federal regulatory agencies and other key stakeholders.
Key areas of responsibility:
The regulatory policy intern will support our advocacy efforts for regulatory policies that promote affordability, choice and trust for the American consumer. This internship also provides opportunities to become familiar with consumer packaged goods (CPG) industry regulatory process and gain professional experience. Ideal applicants will have an interest in regulatory policy and a strong interest in regulatory affairs work. Examples of some of the tasks you’ll be doing include:
- Monitor emerging issues and related news and share articles related to current regulatory and strategic issues.
- Attend and monitor meetings at the agencies and industry share groups and write up minutes and key takeaways.
- Research and draft memos, write markups, draft communications, and format documents.
- Schedule meetings and calls with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Support regulatory team with committee and working group activities including data entry and list management.
- Support and participate in select regulatory and advocacy projects for the duration of the internship.
Requirements:
- Intern candidates are current students (sophomores and above) pursuing their undergraduate degree. Recent graduates are welcome to apply.
- Interest in food or product science or public policy.
- Experience working with the public, either as a volunteer or through employment.
What Else:
- This is a paid summer internship working up to a full-time schedule (37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday).
- Intern candidates are available to work 8-10 weeks starting as early as mid-May to mid-June.
- This internship will be a hybrid opportunity allowing some remote work as well as work in the office and participation in select off-site meetings.
- Unfortunately, at this time, we are unable to offer a housing stipend.
