Software Engineering Manager

About the Job

We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager to lead a team of talented developers and deliver high-quality software solutions for our federal and commercial clients. You will be responsible for managing the full software development lifecycle, from planning and design to testing and deployment. You will also liaise with customers, stakeholders, and senior management to ensure alignment of business goals and technical requirements. In other organizations the level of responsibility and complexity of this role may be on the director level.



As a Software Engineering Manager, you will:

  • Lead and manage a team of software developers, providing guidance, mentorship, and coaching to ensure their growth and success
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and feedback to the software engineering team
  • Conduct code reviews, testing and debugging to ensure optimal performance and functionality of software products
  • Ensure the development team is adhering to industry standards and best practices in software development and engineering
  • Oversee all aspects of software development projects such us to define project scope, schedule, budget, and deliverables in collaboration with customers and stakeholders
  • Monitory applications on the cloud for availability, security, and fault tolerance and troubleshoot issues and resolve problems as they arise
  • Manage software systems and applications against DoD and/or Federal Gov security standards such as NIST, CSF, RMF, DoD CC SRG, & FedRAMP
  • Provide input and guidance on technical proposals, including scoping, resourcing, and estimating for technical projects
  • Monitor and manage project financials, including budgets and schedules, to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of software projects that meet customer requirements and expectations
  • Manage customer relationships, acting as a liaison between the company and customers to understand their needs and provide solutions
  • Report on project status, progress, and risks to senior management
  • Evaluate new technologies and tools to improve software engineering processes



Requirements:

  • US Citizen with ability to successfully pass a government background check
  • Work on-site in the Alexandria, VA HQ office. Other HumRRO offices may be considered.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience as a technologist/software developer (Full Stack, DevSecOps, AWS/Azure Cloud)
  • Five or more years at or above a technical lead position or level of responsibility
  • Three or more years of experience in a people management position
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Federal and Commercial Business and Product experience
  • Proven performance on Federal contracts and familiarity with DoD and Federal Gov security standards
  • Demonstrated customer service focused/experienced (Product/Service management, Technical Support)
