Accounting Coordinator

The Accounting Coordinator is responsible for assisting the accounting department with various tasks. Primary duties include processing member timesheets, recording agency credit card usage, ensuring accurate cash deposits, issuing spike payments, and aiding in preparation for the annual audit and/or other outside reviewers. The Accounting Coordinator maintains a strong working relationship with MCC staff and members. 

Montana Conservation Corps is a nonprofit organization that engages youth and young adults through hands-on conservation service and education. Our participants work on physically demanding and essential natural resource and conservation projects on some of the most breathtaking landscapes in the Northern Rockies and Plains.   Here at MCC, we focus on the growth of our participants, positively impacting our climate and environment, and transferable job skills.  MCC offers crew-based programming that uses natural resource and community service projects to foster personal and crew development.  Our main goal is not to build trails but to help members develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to be active citizens in their community.  Through a term of service with MCC, participants will learn practical job skills, build confidence, strengthen communication and leadership competencies, and develop the ability to work well with people from all walks of life.

Wage: $20 Hourly
Status: Full Time, Non-Exempt (Overtime Eligible)
Location: Bozeman, MT (in person, non-remote)

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Financial Responsibilities:
  • Review and enter agency credit card charges into accounting software
  • Ensure proper allocation of costs to proper grants and funds
  • Maintain incoming check log, restrictively endorse incoming checks, prepare, and perform deposits
  • Process and Issue Spike payments for requested per diem
  • Provide back-up staffing as needed for other accounting activities, such as invoices and reimbursements
Administrative Duties:
  • Oversee collection and recording of member timesheets including printing, reviewing, updating accounting system, entering hours into Salesforce, and filing
  • Filing various payroll and staff related documents
  • Maintains employee confidence by keeping information confidential
  • Update GURU cards as needed
  • Be an engaged and contributing member of the Administrative Team
  • Contribute to MCC diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives

Office Coordination Duties:
  • Organize general office tidiness, clean up and recycling, delegate monthly responsibilities to staff
  • Ensure adequate postage for general office use on both postage machine and stamps as needed
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot phone system, copier/printer/fax machine and postage machine
  • Assure proper inventory of office, kitchen, and bathroom supplies

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Associates Degree in Accounting or related field or 2 years of related experience
  • Strong interpersonal and administrative skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office Suite and Google Suite
  • Solid 10 key calculator skills
  • Ability to appropriately manage confidential information
  • Experience with computerized accounting programs
  • Able to quickly write routine correspondence, reports, and memoranda

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • A valid driver’s license and ability to be insurable per MCC parameters
  • Experience with MIP Fund Accounting program
  • Experience with Salesforce
