Contract Simulation Software Engineer

Simulation Software Engineer (contract)

Vecna Robotics is seeking a contract Simulation Software Engineer. The Simulation Software Engineer will work with senior engineers to design and build simulation and automation capabilities to enable large scale simulated testing of robotic fleets. The ideal candidate is an undergraduate student (junior or senior) who is curious and excited about working hands on with real world robotics solutions; is comfortable being a member of an experienced robotics team and wishes to grow their experience and ability in robotics. 
 
This is a 3-month, part-time (20 hours/week), contract, hourly role based in Waltham, MA. 
 
In this role, the Simulation Software Engineer will: 

  • Develop simulated environment using the Gazebo software package 
  • Design and develop a multi-robot simulation connector 
  • Evaluate new simulation platforms 
  • Work with senior engineer to implement design and take part in the software development process 
 
What we are looking for: 

  • Undergraduate student (junior or senior) currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Robotics student 
  • 2+ years of experience with C++ development 
  • 2+ years of experience with Python 
  • 1+ years of experience with ROS (Robotic Operating System) 
  • 1+ years of experience with Gazebo or other simulation environment  
  • Must have valid work authorization
