PAID INTERNSHIP - Community Arts Programming Intern [Future Ink Graphics]

$20/hr.

FIG is located in the Pivot Center for Art, Dance and Expression, that houses the Cleveland Museum of Art's Community Arts Center, Inlet Dance, Latin US Theater and more. The Community Arts Intern will work with the Director to coordinate collaborative programs with many of the Pivot Tenants. This includes attending meetings with all the organizations, contributing to program ideas, participating in hiring instructors, assisting the instructors in the classroom and following up with evaluation forms.  

FIG is a small, arts organization that is constantly moving, growing and adapting to the needs in the community. The intern will get a good sense of community work and how other organizations and businesses utilizes FIG’s art programming for their constituents.  

Intern Responsibilities: 
  • Future Ink Graphics (FIG) is looking for an outgoing, community minded intern to support Community Arts programming.
  • FIG partners with over a dozen organizations in the city, providing a variety of silkscreen, design and visual arts programming.
  • The Community Arts Intern (CAE) will work directly with the Director in creating and implementing educational programs.
  • Located in a neighborhood of Cleveland with the largest Latinx population in the city, FIG works with many organizations that service the Hispanic Community including: the Young Latino Network, The Hispanic Business Center and The Mexican Committee.
  • The intern will help grow these relationships, plan programs, attend and assist with these programs, both on-site and off-site.
  • Help reach out to new organizations and businesses in the community.  

Intern Requirements: 
  • Interns should possess knowledge of visual art forms.
  • A focus on silkscreen and/or digital arts preferred but not necessary.
  • FIG uses a variety of design programs including Creative Cloud, Procreate and Gimp on Apple devices.
  • Interns that have used these programs are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Interns should have the ability to work independently when needed but feel comfortable collaborating with a variety of other organizations.
  • Spanish speaking preferred but not required. 
  • The intern will work approximately 28 hours a week.  
  • Community programs often take place on weekends and/or evenings so for the intern to get a true experience of Community Art, they should have some flexibility to attend some of those off hour events.
