PAID INTERNSHIP - Design and Publications Intern [The Cleveland Museum of Art]

$20/hr.

A cover letter, resume, and a digital portfolio of projects will be reviewed during interview process. 

Design and publications interns work on a variety of projects.
For a graphic design major, this diversity of projects can make for a stronger portfolio. We have the rare advantage of offering students the opportunity to learn about all aspects of museum design, from exhibition design and environmental graphics to books and publications.  

Intern Responsibilities: 
Interns build knowledge of how to work through problems, practice communication skills with vendors and other staff, and develop strategies to discern what clients want and how to give them results. Interns end up with a variety of projects for their design portfolios. 

  • Create an identity for an exhibition. 
  • Participate in production of installing graphics for exhibitions and the permanent collection. 
  • Propose signage layouts 
  • Prepare pop-up projects (happening during week) 
  • Measure walls and prepare production files for wallpaper 
  • Design printed and digital ephemera 
  • Assist with color management and prepress production on print publications. 
  • Attend a press approval for a printed publication. 

Intern Requirements: 
  • Undergraduate, third-year graphic communications student.
  • Confidence working in the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop)
