Salary Information: $48,000+ commensurate with experience and qualifications

Position Summary:
Colonial Farm Credit (www.colonialfarmcredit.com) is an agricultural credit cooperative and provides loans for:
· Farms and country homes
· Land purchase, home construction, or improvements
· Buildings, machinery, livestock or equipment
· Production capital for both full-time and part-time farmers
· Ag-related businesses
We currently have an excellent employment opportunity for a loan officer trainee/loan officer in our Lynchburg office, which services the Virginia counties of Amherst, Appomattox, and Campbell.
The position will:
· serve present and prospective member customers with sound short-term, intermediate-term, and long-term loans according to Association and district policies, standards, and procedures
· formulate business development strategies that target potential Farm Credit member customers, as well as referrals from builders, realtors, and other sources
· service all assigned existing loans within delegated authorities
· represent the Association at local events and meetings
· promote related services to all current and prospective member customers
Education, Experience, and Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in an agricultural field (agricultural economics preferred), finance, or economics
· Familiarity with the service area
· Residence in territory served by the Lynchburg office or contiguous counties
· Agricultural background preferred and beneficial to applicant if selected as candidate of choice
· Strong interpersonal, sales, negotiating, and problem solving skills
· Strong analytical, judgment, and communication (oral and written) skills
· Computer experience with intermediate skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
· Registration (current registration or ability to successfully register) with National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS). This process requires fingerprinting; however, licensing is not required.
· Awareness of current economic developments and production technology affecting agriculture in the region
· Attend networking opportunities and community events in order to build influencer relationships and foster business development
· Ability to:
o be assertive and decisive in arriving at sound business decisions
o effectively handle multiple tasks and work independently
o travel to/from prospective and current customers as well as industry functions
· Acceptable background reports (credit, criminal, driving, and drug)
