High School English Teacher

Westchester Country Day School, a PK-12 college preparatory school located in High Point, NC, seeks a High School English instructor starting with the 2023-24 academic year. This position involves teaching honors literature and composition courses to students in grades nine through 12, with the potential for teaching an AP English course. Strong candidates will demonstrate experience in and interest in working with adolescents to develop their voice in both academic and creative writing, in addition to the teaching of critical reading skills through scaffolded instruction. Other skills desired in a candidate include a willingness to work on interdisciplinary projects with other teachers and courses, an understanding of various learner styles and their potential challenges, and flexibility. Westchester’s High School faculty are dedicated to their students, inside and outside of the classroom, and take pride in the professional relationships formed with our students. This position will also involve supervising a study hall period, while using the time for course preparation as needed, and serving as an advisor.
