Government Affairs Intern

JOB SUMMARY:

This internship will offer a learning environment that incorporates real-world experience with an extensive overview of the medical device industry. The Government Affairs Intern will work closely with the Head of Government Affairs and Director, Federal Government Affairs to increase Novocure’s profile and influence public policy on Capitol Hill, with the administration, and in state governments.

This is a temporary, non-exempt, remote position reporting to the Director, U.S. Federal Government Affairs, but preferred to be based near Washington, DC for regular live check-ins and meetings.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure that the patient remains at the center of focus
  • Understand existing Government Affairs processes and responsibilities
  • Assist the Head of Government Affairs to implement strategic projects
  • Coordinate and attend meetings with government officials
  • Prepare briefings for executive interaction with policymakers and and government leadership
  • Assist in the drafting of advocacy materials and position papers, and internal and external communications
  • Attend or watch virtually Congressional hearings and administration events
  • Monitor political and industry press
  • Maintain internal databases utilizing subscription software services
  • Design and implement new programming and initiatives promoting NovocurePAC
 
QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Pursuing degree in related field (politics, economics, public policy)
  • Rising Senior or pursing Masters Degree in Public Health/Policy/Adminstration preferred
  • Interest in Healthcare, Oncology or Medtech Industry
  • Recommended GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Must be able to commit to 40 hours a week
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office
  • Prior internships and experience a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to optimize time and efficiency while managing multiple priorities
 
OTHER:
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
  • Travel may be required
  • Participate in the Intern Program with other inters; bi-weekly Lunch & Learns, Coffee Chats and Final Presentation
  • Opportunity to travel to the Portsmouth NH office in July for a two day on site cultural emersion
