We are looking for talented individuals to develop solutions that advance DIA’s premier intelligence in support of America’s national defense. DIA’s Summer Internship Program provides current students the opportunity to gain practical work experience through research, report writing, briefing development and delivery, policy writing, and intelligence analysis. Interns are also exposed to the broader Intelligence Community through field trips, information sessions, and panel discussions. Communications Operations & Media strategize, advise, develop, and manage the full lifecycle of communications and engagements as well as information management across the Enterprise. Officers provide creative and innovative solutions that articulate ideas, visualize complex concepts, provide trusted counsel, and craft tailored communications and intelligence products using a diverse set of skills and expertise to inform the workforce, stakeholders, overseers and the public. 
Positions: Public Affairs Officers, Creative Writers, Outreach Officers, Video Production, Graphic and Multimedia design, Cartography, UX/UI designers, FOIA Officers, Records Management, Historians, Editors, and Researchers

Facilities officers manage and safeguard DIA’s global building infrastructure and oversee maintenance and construction planning and execution. They achieve and/or maintain requirements for Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs). They also ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health and Environmental compliance to prevent injury and illness and oversee and test DIA’s emergency readiness.
Positions: Architects, Engineers (Electrical, Environmental, General, Mechanical), Realty Specialists,& Space Planners, Emergency Management and Safety Specialists, Environmental Specialists

Logistics work across the supply chain spectrum to ensure our global workforce is equipped to accomplish mission, by providing procurement, storage and distribution, travel and transportation services, property accountability, and maintenance support.
Positions: Deployment Specialists, Transportation Specialists and Warehouse Managers, Logistics Management Specialists, and Supply Management Specialists

Program Analysis and Management officers analyze, evaluate, and direct a variety of programs across the spectrum of DIA engagements, coordinate a wide range of projects directed toward strategic business and organizational objectives and deliver solutions that efficiently manage resources—people, systems, space, budgets, and contracts.
Positions: Management and Program Analysts, and Program Managers

Staff Operations officers are employed worldwide managing day-to-day office operations, implementing internal controls, and controlling resources. They lead strategic-level events and engagements, ensuring adherence with all civilian and military protocol standards. They partner with State Department and foreign nationals throughout the world to enable defense attaché and partner liaison missions.
Positions: Executive Assistant, Staff Officers, Event Planners, Protocol Officers, Embassy Support Officers, and Watch Officers

Interns will be considered for full-time permanent employment at the conclusion of the internship. However, permanent employment is not guaranteed and is subject to the needs of the Agency and available vacancies. DIA is an Agency with worldwide positions. Selected candidates must be willing to relocate in support of mission requirements. Since this is a temporary appointment, interns will not receive employee benefits. All selected candidates are responsible for securing their own travel and housing/lodging accommodations.


PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
This program is open only to current students enrolled in full-time undergraduate and graduate degree-seeking programs at accredited institutions with a graduation date on/after May 2024 in the following academic disciplines: Business Administration, Human Resource Management, Education, Communications, Public Policy, or a related academic discipline. Eligible applicants must meet the following requirements:
  • Possess a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale at the time of application, and employment.
  • Undergraduate students must complete 30 semester hours or its equivalent at the time of employment.
  • Graduate on/after May 2024.
  • Meet the Agency’s conditions of employment. A final offer of employment will not be extended until all conditions of employment have been successfully met. Please note that the special security background investigation, counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, psychological assessment and drug testing cannot be conducted if candidates are residing outside the continental United States. Therefore, candidates should not apply to this program if they are studying or working abroad 3-9 months prior to May 2024.
