SR Specialist, Ames Vet Research Center

The purpose of the Specialist is to operate under minimal supervision, responsible for research operations to support the functional research units, including maintaining calibrations on instruments and systems and to participate in the validation of systems including inspection compliance. This role will serve as a front-line representative for the AVRC and is especially knowledgeable of the mentioned areas.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Performs and executes planning and scheduling of maintenance activities.
  • Maintains calibrations & preventive maintenance for instruments & control systems as assigned.
  • Reviews completed work orders and completion of documentation, attachments, signatures, and dates and communicate with Ames Site Head.
  • Enforces regulatory compliance, environmental health and safety & corporate policies, and procedures.
  • Develops and maintains business processes in cooperation with EHS Representative related to site compliance, safety and security.
  • Participates on the Ames Operations team.  
  • Assists the innovation group with technical problems and operational issues.
  • Reviews work requests including scope, rationale, seek approvals and determine impact to ongoing research activities.
  • Contacts parties involved for clarification, as necessary.
  • Arranges for and schedules internal and external contract support as needed to complete corrective and preventative tasks.
  • In addition to the above, other assigned duties & projects deemed appropriate within the position scope.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of three to five (3-5) years relevant experience (as listed).

Eligibility Requirements:
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
