MSW Grads or LCSWs: Developmental Full Time Federal Position

The US Army Medical Command, Alaska is seeking to fill a full-time developmental Social Worker (Family Advocacy) position.

Position is open to the Public (All US Citizens):
Social Worker (Family Advocacy), GS-0185-09/11/12
This position has promotion potential to the full performance level, GS-12.
Management may select at any grade level, dependent on the candidate’s qualifications.
Salary: $61,424 - $115,803; In addition, COLA 2.48%
Location: Fort Wainwright, Alaska
 
Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:
·        Duties listed below will be performed in a developmental capacity at the GS-09 and GS-11 grade levels. At the full performance, GS-12, the incumbent will:
·        Perform crisis intervention and risk assessments to prevent and treat child and spouse or intimate partner abuse.
·        Provide therapeutic treatment and therapy sessions to victims, offenders and family members of those involved in domestic violence, child abuse or neglect.
·        Conduct clinical interviews and psychosocial assessments of victims, offenders, children and family members.
·        Make treatment recommendations to the multi-disciplinary Family Advocacy Program Case Review Committee team.
·        Develop treatment plans based on identified problems, psychosocial factors and treatment capabilities.
This position has a positive education requirement. To qualify for this you must meet the basic requirements described below:


In addition to the education requirement, candidates at the GS-11 and GS-12 grade levels must also have 1) A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Social Work independently AND 2) at least one year of directly related experience typical of work performed at the next lower grade level as defined below:
 
Specialized Experience for GS-11: One year of specialized experience which includes working with domestic violence and/or child abuse cases. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR

Combination of Education and Experience to qualify for the GS-11: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Specialized Experience for GS-12: One year of specialized experience which includes in a family advocacy environment: assessing incidents of abuse, providing counseling to abusers or victims, and developing treatment plans to those involved in abuse. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
 
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. The duties of this position require the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance. This position is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption. Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position. All Health Care Providers must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) training and certification that is sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA). Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges. This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules. This position may be required to testify before agencies and/or in court proceedings. Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid States drivers license.
