Physical Education/Health Teacher

Come work at Mount Horeb Area School District! We are currently seeking to hire a highly dedicated Physical Education/Health Teacher at our Intermediate School working with students in grades 3 - 5. Applications should be submitted by April 2. Phone interviews will occur the week of April 3; in-person interviews will take place on the afternoon of April 18. The position will remain open until filled.

What Your Day Will Look Like:
As a Physical Education/Health Teacher at our Elementary level, the successful candidate will provide onsite, in-person instruction for our physical education and health program, developing and preparing lesson plans reflective of the district curriculum and integrating age and developmentally appropriate practices. The majority of your day will involve providing physical education and health instruction and engaging and interacting with students to maximize their learning and potential (develop motor skills, understanding of fitness concepts, understanding of health-promoting behaviors, respect and a value of lifelong physical activity and wellness). Additionally, you will be assessing and monitoring student progress, grading, using innovative and creative approaches for inclusive teaching to reach all students, providing a safe and respectful learning environment and communicating with students, families, colleagues and administrators. Collaboration with your related arts team as a professional learning community and completing additional tasks as requested by administrators is key.

Our Ideal Candidate:
*Holds valid Wisconsin Teaching Licenses in Physical Education (1530), Health (1910) and Adaptive Physical Education (1860) Willing to consider candidates with two of these licenses; successful candidate to acquire third license within three years of employment at their own expense.
*Has an understanding in current teaching and learning strategies, specific to physical education, health and adaptive physical education.
*Has working knowledge of a positive behavior approach such as Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS)
*Is a passionate and engaging educator
*Demonstrates ability to build positive, nurturing relationships with all learners
*Is a leader in the effort to achieve an equitable learning experience for all students
*Is able to maintain a positive and safe learning environment
*Is innovative in instructional practices and incorporates strategies to promote overall well-being in addition to developing athletic skill
*Possess a collaborative and solution oriented mindsets
*Is flexible and adaptable, especially during times of change
*Demonstrates good communication skills, including ability to guide and supervise groups of students, maintain confidentiality, and work with students in a positive and motivational manner
*Bilingual (Spanish) skills and abilities are a plus.
