Evaluation Specialist - Mental Health Field

The Senior Evaluation Specialist is responsible for supporting program evaluation at Thresholds, including providing input on evaluation design and implementation, data cleaning and database construction, data analysis and visualization, report writing, and working on additional program specific evaluations as needed. In addition to general support, the Senior Evaluation Specialist lends expertise to the Director and agency in the form of committee leadership to champion the creation and sustaining of an evaluation culture.
 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs data collection through a variety of methods: Electronic Medical Records (EMR) review, case studies, surveys, focus groups or interviews.
  • Works with the IT Department to develop and maintain agency-wide and program specific evaluation reports in Power BI.
  • Cleans, organizes, and analyzes data & makes sense of findings in partnership with Program & Department leaders and Quality Managers.
  • Responsible for creating, maintaining, and presenting dashboards, reports, and infographics with data-driven outcomes.
  • Presents findings to internal and external audiences, including but not limited to Thresholds Program Directors, Board of Directors, partner agencies, and grant funders.
  • Contributes to federal and state reports, peer-reviewed journal manuscripts, and grant proposals; including identifying, analyzing, and summarizing data in required formats.
  • Monitors the use of evaluation reports, tools and dashboards to promote continuous quality improvement.
  • Identifies and vets data collection instruments. Designs data collection forms, as necessary. Ensures data quality via stand-alone projects, such as training and routine quality strategies.
  • Customizes and maintains data collection systems, and integrates data from multiple sources or systems.
  • Trains leadership and direct care staff on data collection systems and practices.
  • Provides regular input to the Director regarding issues relevant to improving program evaluation.
  • Attends all required meetings.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
 


MARGINAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • May assist evaluation interns on relevant projects.
  • May be required to work a flexible schedule.
  • Complies with all ethical standards for research, including but not limited to the protection of confidential information (health information and other types of information).
  • Minimal travel may be expected.
 


EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in area relevant to psychiatric rehabilitation or with research and/or evaluation training.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
 


EXPERIENCE

  • Two (2) to three (3) years of experience with interactive data visualization software such as Power BI or Tableau preferred.
  • Experience with data analysis required, including professional experience with Excel; Statistical Package for Social Services (SPSS) or Statistical Analysis System (SAS) preferred.
  • Strong report writing skills required.
  • Experience making formal academic presentations preferred.
  • Knowledge of formatting and submission requirements.
  • Experience with electronic health record software preferred.
