Network Analyst II, Information Systems (DLS Oahu)

Diagnostic Laboratory Services, Inc. (DLS) is Hawaii’s largest locally owned and operated medical testing laboratory. DLS is considered a leader in the Hawaii, Guam and Saipan communities we serve. SCHEDULE
Regular Full-Time
Must be available Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm with possible on-call/after hours.
Must be flexible with schedule changes to meet operational needs.
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the administration and maintenance of the enterprise network infrastructure. Collaborates with team members to implement new technologies and resolve network issues. Analyzes business requirements and helps lead the continuous refinement/improvement of network infrastructure for optimal performance, security, and availability.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Listed below are the major duties and responsibilities of this position in order of importance. Essential job functions are identified with an *.
2. Resolves escalations for network and security-related service requests, trouble calls, and documents resolutions. (50%)*Contributes towards projects intended to continually improve/upgrade software applications.
  1. Provides network support for connectivity issues and provides optimization recommendations.
  2. Troubleshoots and resolves security incidents.
  3. Supports IT infrastructure team as needed.
  4. Works on interdepartmental projects by coordinating the implementation of related systems and applications.
  5. Escalates issues with vendors when necessary.
 
3. Monitors and ensures network uptime for 24x7x365 business operations. (30%)*
  1. Under limited supervision, leads and coordinates network tasks and initiatives (firewall, core router/switch, protocols, security, etc.).
  2. Assesses and analyzes anomalous network and system activity.
  3. Configures real-time alerts for monitoring systems.
  4. Plans and performs network upgrades and other maintenance for key systems.
  5. Coordinates, plans and configures site-to-site VPN connections.
 
4. As assigned, leads development of sound practices and solutions for networking issues; develops and recommends policies and procedures. (20%)*
  1. Analyzes risk exposure and adjusts security protections accordingly.
  2. Creates and maintains network documentation and inventory.
  3. Directs or performs installation of network hardware and cabling.
  4. Assists with development, maintenance, and execution of disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  5. Recommends and implements cost reduction solutions (streamline processes, reduce risk).
5. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DEMANDS
Communication Demands:
  • Comfortable communicating with all levels of the organization; excellent writing skills being able to convey complex information in emails and memos.
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as network diagrams, firewall rulesets, IT requirements, and written security policies, as appropriate.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or auditors.
  • Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of internal and external customers.
  • Able to accurately prepare written business correspondence in a coherent, grammatically correct, effective, professional, and engaging manner.
 
Typical Physical Demands:
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal ranges.
  • Able to use PC and sit up to two (2) hours continuously.
  • Able to lift supplies and equipment up to twenty-five (25) pounds occasionally.
  • Able to climb ladders and crawl into or under confined spaces occasionally.
  • Able to use hand tools for repetitive actions such as grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manipulation occasionally.
  • Requires occasional bending, kneeling, stooping, and reaching above shoulder level.
  • Requires occasional ground or air travel.
 
Typical Working Conditions:
  • Work environment includes conditions common to an office environment with computers, printers, and light foot traffic.
  • Generally works in an indoor, air-conditioned area.
  • Responds to off-hour calls.
  • Ability to work remotely (high speed internet, secure working area, cell phone, etc.).
 
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (High school diploma plus four (4) years IT Network Administration experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree).
EXPERIENCE
Required:
  • In addition to educational requirement, minimum four (4) years of direct experience in IT network administration (configuration, installation, troubleshooting), LAN/WAN design, and network security.
 
Preferred:
  • At least one (1) year experience with IT network administration in a healthcare environment.
 
CERTIFICATION
Preferred:
  • Current (active) certification for networking/routing/switching, such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CompTIA Network+.
 
SKILLS
Required:
  • Comprehensive understanding of network design and principles (TCP/IP, routing protocols).
  • Experience engineering network and security solutions in enterprise environments.
  • Possesses awareness of current network trends and security threats.
  • Excellent network troubleshooting and cyber threat prevention instincts.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of network analysis tools.
  • Effective communication of technical information to team members and non-IT staff.
  • Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously from design to implementation.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple assignments.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
  • Able to travel between business locations.
